Bio

Currently the Deputy Chief of Operations with the City of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Department, Chief Kessler began his Fire Service career with the City of North Las Vegas Fire Department in 1994. Ray served as the Acting Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Battalion Chief, Suppression Captain, Administrative Captain and a Firefighter while a member of the North Las Vegas Fire Department. 

In addition to his duties as the Deputy Fire Chief, Ray is an adjunct instructor at the College of Southern Nevada in the Fire and Emergency Services program and is also a member of FEMA - Nevada Task Force 1.

Chief Kessler has earned an Associates of Applied Science in Fire Science Management, an Associates of Applied Science in Urban Firefighting from the College of Southern Nevada and a Bachelors of Science in Public Administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Chief Kessler is also currently enrolled in the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Program and is a member of the Fire Service Executive Development Institute (FSEDI) 2017 cohort.

Ray is an active member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Nevada Fire Chiefs Association, the International Association of Fire Service Instructors and a Retired Associate member of the International Association of Firefighters.
