Bio

Fire Chief Ed Hadfield manages and directs the administration and operations of the Rincon Fire Department. His department strives to provide the community the best possible emergency and non-emergency services where safe, professional, courteous and well trained Customer Service is the number one priority. A 37 year veteran of fire service, Chief Hadfield has been with the Rincon Fire Department for the past seven years and served as Chief Officer in other agencies in California for eight years prior to that. He spent the majority of his career with the Huntington Beach Fire Department.

Chief Hadfield was recently appointed by California Governor Edmund Brown to serve as a member of the 911 Advisory Board. The board establishes statewide public safety service standards and provides advisory council to the legislature. Chief Hadfield currently serves as the Treasurer of the San Diego County Fire Chiefs Association and remains active in other State and Federal regulatory functions to insure firefighter safety, superior training standards and competent, professional care and service to the citizens of California. He is the current Area 4 Director for the California Fire Chiefs Association, past member and Past Chairperson of the Santa Barbara Operations Chiefs Section and a member of the North Zone Fire Chiefs. He is Chairperson of the Native American Advisory Council to Cal-Fire, which serves a 152 statewide tribal nations in California.

A certified Fire Chief by the California State Fire Marshal, Chief Hadfield is one of only 37 ever to receive such certification. He is also a graduate of University of Southern California Price School of Public Policy. He also serves as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the Rincon community and surrounding region and was awarded the 2017 IAFC Wildfire Mitigation Award for work in prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. Lastly, Chief Hadfield has served as an instructor with Palomar College Fire Science Program for the past 28 years and has led two of his departments through the ISO review process resulting in substantially improved ratings for both.
