Fire Chief James Baisden started his fire service
career in 1982 as a volunteer firefighter in Logan,
West Virginia. From 1985 to 1994 he served with
the United States Air Force, Fire Protection.
Chief Baisden was employed as a Deputy Fire
Marshal for the State of Alaska, and with the
Alaska National Guard from 1995 until 1997.
From 1998 until 2007 he served with the Kenai Fire Department as the Fire Marshal
then was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2005. In October 2007, he was hired as the
Fire Chief for the Nikiski Fire Service Area located on the Kenai Peninsula, where he
Chief Baisden served as President of the Alaska Fire Chiefs Association (2013 – 2015),
is a member of the Kenai Peninsula Fire Chiefs, Alaska State Firefighters Association,
Kenai Peninsula Local Emergency Planning Committee, KPB 911 Board Member,
National Fire Protection Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, National
Fire Academy Alumni, Kenai Peninsula Safe Kids, and a Past Vice President of the
Alaska Association of Arson Investigators.
Chief Baisden has a Degree in Fire Science from the Community College of the Air
Force, and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program.
