Bio

Assistant Chief Reginald T. Johnson is a member of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department and has over 23 years of experience in a variety of Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) positions. He currently is the Operations Chief and is responsible for the deployment and response of fire suppression, technical rescue, swift water rescue, hazardous materials, and emergency medical services, including basic and advanced life support, and emergency medical transportation for the protection of over 1 million county residents. The FRD is comprised of nearly 1,400 uniformed men and women, which operate from 38 fire and rescue stations. Additionally, he oversees the Urban Search and Rescue Program (USA-1/VA-TF1), which is a premier disaster response and humanitarian resource maintained by the department through partnerships with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The team deploys nationally and internationally to natural and manmade disasters.

Chief Johnson has acquired a Master’s of Science degree in Emergency Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Management Studies. He is an alternate on the NFPA 1710 Committee and has professional membership with the IAFC, Virginia Fire Chiefs Association, IABPFF, and IAFF. He is currently the interim Program Manager of the National Capital Region (NCR) Interoperable Communications Infrastructure – CAD2CAD Program. This program improves dispatch center interaction, reduces response times and improves service to citizens for a more seamless multi-jurisdictional response.
