Bio

Randall W. Hanifen is a Lieutenant for West Chester Fire, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Cincinnati Fire Science and Emergency Management Program, and a Fire Service Consultant. He holds a B.S. in Fire Administration, an M.S. in Fire Service Executive Leadership and has a Ph.D. in Executive Management of Homeland Security. He is the associate author of the book Disaster Planning and Control ( Penwell 2009) and contributes regularly to fire service publications, writing on topics of company officer leadership and higher education.

Randall serves as Vice-Chair on the IAFC’s Company Officers Section, leading the COLS and mentoring project action teams. He also serves on the FRI Program Planning Committee. Randall serves as a technical committee member of NFPA 1021, the Fire Officer Standard, and as an alternate member of the NFPA 1500.

Randall serves as the Executive Chairperson of a County Technical Rescue Team and as Taskforce Leader for FEMA’s Ohio Task Force 1 US&R team, which provides response to Federal Level disasters. Randall also serves as the Planning Section Chief for the Butler County (OH) Regional Type 3 Incident Management Team.

Randall is credentialed as a Fire Officer by the Center for Public Safety Excellence and has been accepted as a Fellow to the Institute of Fire Engineers. Randall can be reached at Randall@Hanifen.org
